Description
The old John P. Cable Mill in Cades Cove, is one of the most popular stops on the tour of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It still works, and in its day was one of the most important parts of the pioneer mountain community life, as the sole place for grinding their grain to make bread and sorghum for molasses and other food products so necessary to daily life. The Park area (near Gatlinburg, Tenn.) has been preserved to look pretty much the way it would look back in the 1800's with the original pioneer homesteads, barns, businesses, pasture and farmland, and draws thousands of visitors every year.
