An Ocean Freighter, having just steamed past Detroit, passes under the Blue Water International Bridge joining Port Huron Michigan and Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, and then on, perhaps, to Chicago, Illinois, or maybe clear across Lake Superior to Duluth, Minnesota with a cargo from, perhaps, Germany, or Italy. The Great Lakes bring Mid America into direct contact with ports from all over the world.
