Description
It was in this house that Betsy Ross is said to have sewn the first American flag in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Betsy had an apolstery shop, which was the traditional place for flag making in those days. Three members of a secret committee from the Continental Congress, including George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross, came to see her in May of 1776, asking her to sew the first flag.
